The news came out yesterday that Chris Drury will be bought out from his Rangers contract. When Chris Drury came to the Rangers, it was a signing that fans were thrilled about. Here Drury was, Captain Clutch, still in his prime. He’d won at every level. The contract awarded to him was a bit ridiculous for the kind of player he is, and he did not perform as that kind of money would lead one to believe that he should have. He was never a 50 goal scorer and many fans apparently had unrealistic expectations of his abilities. That being said, he has aged, dealt with injuries, and declined, but the intangibles he brings to a team should not be overlooked.
I’m sad that the end of his career as a Ranger has come to an end, so instead, remember happier Chris Drury times.
